We never felt unsafe, even walking at night. I will say that we never saw anyone on the nearby streets after dark, which is strange in such a big city, and everyone else who returned to the hotel after dark was sent by taxi. I’m not sure why this is, but it’s something to keep in mind, that maybe people don’t go out after dark here like we do.
We love the hotel’s decor, which is a mix of marble, gold accents and beautiful shades of blue. There are several fireplaces around the hotel, and there is no shortage of soft chairs to relax, read a book or sit and chat with loved ones. Our room was smaller than a standard suite, but the hotel itself was originally a condominium, so the rooms, in general, were smaller than average.
This didn’t bother us, as we spent most of our time exploring the city and enjoying the other hotel amenities. The bathroom was spacious enough to store our things during our stay, and the water pressure from the shower was amazing. The decor makes the room feel like home, with a soft botanical motif giving a sense of calm to our peaceful room.
