Due to the corona virus, the summer of 2020 will be different from what we are used to. Going on vacation this year is not something you can simply take for granted. If you do decide to go on vacation, the advice is to prepare well and be well informed.
Travel Guidelines Netherlands
Consider a holiday in the Netherlands. Avoid busy places and consider visiting regions or cities that are not part of the regular tourist hotspots. If you do go on holiday abroad, you will need to prepare well. Only go to countries with a yellow travel warning. Traveling to these countries is responsible, but you still need to be extra careful. Make sure you know what the rules are in the country you are traveling to; know what your travel insurance covers; and keep up to date with the latest information during your trip, for example using the BZ Travel App (Dutch). Travel advice can change quickly, including when you’re away.
Coronavirus Travel Updates: Which Countries Have Restrictions And Fco Warnings In Place?
From June 15, travel advisories for several European countries will change from orange to yellow. This means that the health risk in these countries is comparable to that in the Netherlands and that these countries welcome Dutch tourists. Other countries, for example France and Spain, have yet to make an official decision on whether or not Dutch tourists are welcome this summer.
Travel advisories will remain orange for three European countries: Sweden, the United Kingdom (because the health risk is considered higher there) and Denmark (because the country does not yet want to receive tourists from the Netherlands). The goal is to allow travel to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Bonaire, St Eustatius, Saba, Curacao, Aruba and St Maarten) from June 15. In order to limit the risk of a new outbreak as much as possible, travel outside Europe is not recommended. Therefore, travel advice for countries outside Europe and outside the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will remain orange for the time being. This means: travel there only if absolutely necessary. If you do go, we recommend that you self-isolate at home for two weeks after returning to the Netherlands.
Tourists from countries where the health risk is comparable or lower than the Netherlands can visit the Netherlands this summer. They of course have to follow all the rules that exist in the Netherlands to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The Schengen area (which is part of the Netherlands) and the United Kingdom have closed their external borders to people from outside the EU whose travel is not necessary. This ban will be in force until 15 June 2020 (inclusive), but will be assessed at EU level before that date.

On Saturday, September 17, the Dutch government announced that it was lifting all remaining travel restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has already eased restrictions and has just kept the ban on entering the European Union (EU) until Saturday.

Europe Travel Restrictions, Covid 19 Test Requirements, By Country, For July
A statement from the Dutch government reads: “Given the current epidemiological situation in the Netherlands, the government considers that the ban on entry to the Netherlands is no longer proportionate.” The statement was issued on Friday, September 16, just a day before the lifting of restrictions.
Earlier this year, as the Omicron wave began to subside, several countries lifted their travel restrictions. The Netherlands was one of them and relaxed most of its travel bans in an attempt to welcome more tourists. However, until now, the restrictions set by the EU ban have been maintained. This meant that all nations arriving from regions outside the EU and Schengen zones had to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a valid recovery certificate, in order to enter the country. However, those belonging to the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA) could enter the country without restrictions. They did not have to submit any proof of vaccination, recovery or testing status.
Before the travel ban was lifted, the vaccination certificates of those who visited the Netherlands were also subject to certain criteria, it says
. The vaccines had to be approved by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization and had to have been administered within the last nine months, the report said.

Test Locations And Information About Your Country
Consider hepatitis A vaccination for most travelers. It is recommended for travelers who will be performing high-risk activities, such as visiting smaller towns, villages or rural areas where the traveler could become infected through food or water. Recommended for travelers who plan to eat street food.
It is recommended for unvaccinated travelers under the age of 60 traveling to the Netherlands. Unvaccinated travelers over the age of 60 can be vaccinated before traveling to the Netherlands.
Babies aged 6 to 11 months traveling abroad should receive 1 dose of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine before travel. This dose does not count as part of the routine childhood vaccination series.
The Netherlands is free from rabies. However, rabies can still be present in wildlife species, especially bats. The CDC recommends rabies vaccination before travel only for people who work directly with wildlife. These people may include veterinarians, animal handlers, field biologists, or laboratory workers working with specimens from mammalian species.
