There are two bucket list courses here – Tom Doak and Mike Clayton’s Barnbougle Dunes and Coore-Crenshaw’s Lost Farm – ranked 19th and 28th respectively on our world’s top 100 list. Then there are the stunning two-bedroom cottages at Lost Farm, with 50 two-bedroom villas and three four-bedroom villas, each with its own large living room and kitchen. There are also two-bedroom ocean villas. A spa and fine dining round out the limited amenities on the farm. The golf in particular is great, but a trip to Tasmania is worth every mile.
1 would be a worthy one as the golf offering is sensational and at least has better accommodation and facilities than Bandon. Streamsong has a hotel, three World Top 100 courses, four restaurants, a spa, fishing, clay, archery and a swimming pool. A test, isn’t it?
You might think this is par for the course, but it isn’t. Pebble Beach has three hotels on its property, a total of 492 rooms and suites, five courses (Pebble, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill, Del Monte and nine holes 3), 10 restaurants, a spa, hiking/biking trails, and an equestrian center. Number 5 feels low.
Ailsa Updated (by Martin Ebert) is a masterpiece and an introduction that really needs little explanation other than to say that King Robert the Bruce just got better. We gave it one of our top golf marks, the atmosphere is epic and the hotel has improved a lot.

Gleneagles and Bandon Dunes are just three brands, but they are very different in terms of what they offer. Sure, Gleneagles has world-class golf, World Top 100 (King’s), GB&I Top 100 (Queen’s) and Scottish Top 100 (PGA Centenary) records, but it can’t compete with Bandon. quality and quantity. What makes Gleneagles a more attractive resort for many is its hotel and non-golf facilities. There was never any doubt that Gleneagles would score top marks in both categories. The grand hotel’s bedrooms and public rooms are exquisite, blending old-world character with new-age luxury and comfort. The bathrooms alone are an experience in themselves; Even the curmudgeon among us will last a long time in retro bathrooms, elegant showers, high-end toilets and the ultimate in towels.

The food is second to none and regular readers will know that we consider breakfast at Gleneagles a bucket list experience. Take it from the watering holes, but take our advice and make time for at least one cocktail at an American bar.
At none of the resorts in this rating is there more to do than the course. There is dog walking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, tennis, survival training, a spa and fitness center, indoor and outdoor heated pools, off-road riding, horseback riding, biking, fishing and more.
But let’s not forget golf. Designed by James Bryde, King’s and Queen’s are two of the best domestic courses in the UK, offering a lasting class and atmosphere. King’s is a top 100 course in the world with an excellent balance of challenge and enjoyment for star, club golfers. This pleases the queen; playable and beautiful, a course you’ll want to play again and again. Although the PGA Centennial is considered No. 3 here, it is highly relevant; it is a Scottish top 100 and Ryder Cup winner.
That’s why golf at Bandon is not a luxury, and there is no better golf resort in the world, especially for families and couples. Probably the 2nd biggest in all of our top 100’s. What a place it is
Most Scenic Golf Courses & Resorts In The World
It had to be Bandon Dunes. With four great courses in the World Top 100 and number five on the list, this Oregon golf destination should have been our No. 1 resort.
As our rating system shows, not only is it great golf, but while Bando’s location and especially its non-golf amenities are limited compared to many on this list, the four courses in the World Top 100 are impressive. So Mike Kaiser’s station hacked our call system. For its courses, it could earn a 40/40 score at Bandon to compensate for other resorts’ low scores. This is how we set up Bandon’s notes, and the rest will follow suit.
Five out of 18 holes – David McLay Kidd, Tom Doak (2), Bill Kuru-Ben Crenshaw (2) – plus 13 holes of excellent Par 3 Reason to fly to Oregon. There are two rooms, 44 cottages, a massage center, fishing and hiking. But this is about golf, and it’s arguably the greatest spectacle in the world.
My father was a greengrocer and property manager at Gleneagles, so I played golf all my life. I have a degree in landscape architecture and worked in industry before joining Gleneagles.
