After blogging about this for years, I’ve noticed that most people who ask for advice on creating a work + travel lifestyle want a) a job where travel is part of the job (vs. being in a foreign country) or b) want to live an independent lifestyle about location so they can work online while traveling, anywhere, anytime.

I wanted to highlight 15 of the “best” jobs in my opinion – ones that are real, offer decent travel perks or travel opportunities, and ones that people actually enjoy based on people I’ve talked to or blog posts written to read.

I’ve split this list into two parts, with 10 job opportunities while you travel and 5 online job opportunities. Some of them were mentioned in my main post (the ultimate list of jobs that pay you to travel the world) or in my free guide, and some are new.
This may seem obvious, but when I mention it to people, they often say it never occurred to them!
You literally travel on airplanes for work and you have to be very responsible and have excellent customer service. Long hours and holidays are usually required.

These types of roles tend to be very competitive, but if you have (or are interested in) a career in higher education, it’s definitely worth checking out!

One of the people I interviewed at Adventure Club worked in both the Peace Corps and Peace Boat – she volunteered with Peace Boat on a ship that sailed to and from Japan and visited 13 countries in between.
History is “always changing”, as some people say, and analysis of works or locations is important for historians/researchers, universities, etc.

This summer I traveled to Mexico City and continued to freelance online while I was there.
There were definitely a stressful moment or two trying to figure out how to complete projects at work when Airbnb stopped working or when I lost WiFi on a bus in the middle of nowhere, but all in all it was pretty great and still doing the same thing I would have done at home but instead in Mexico City.
Overall, over the past few years I’ve been able to work + travel online across Asia, Oceania and Mexico without any issues.

Yes, you can do almost anything as a freelancer these days – social media marketing, graphic design, IT support, HTML and coding, copywriting, copyediting… the list goes on. Check out websites like Fiverr and Upwork for inspiration, and consider creating your own profile to sell your services if you’re just starting out.
Another way to get the word out is to tell people you’re free for work. Facebook groups that allow this are another great way to find and connect with potential customers (but please respect the group rules first)!
Generally, because there are many different ways you can work online. From dropshipping to online services to Etsy and more (so much), it’s totally possible to create a business that doesn’t require a location.
As with anything, using Google and researching ways that interest you is the best way to learn how to get started.

Believe it or not, even in this day and age with all the information on the internet, there are still people who are full-time travel agents and actually make money doing it.
Whether it’s booking a company trip, honeymoon or big family vacation, not everyone has the time or will to plan a trip abroad.
One of my friends and her mother are travel agents – my friend has her license and does it casually when she gets the chance (and enjoys discounts from travel agents), while her mother has a long list of clients and does it. It’s like a full-time job.
