Places are available but limited for this event and there will be a guest list at the door so registration is essential. Please register only if you know you can attend the event. No performances need to be included in future events.
Be strategic in your meetings. WTM is large and can take a while to do part by part, especially if they are on opposite sides of Excel. When arranging meetings, try to think about where they are, for example, reserve the morning for European meetings and the afternoon for Asian meetings. Also, do not have more than two meetings per hour and try to allow time to breathe between them.

Take lunch and snacks. Queues in restaurants are huge and you pay London prices for everything. Either eat early or have lunch late!

Use this as an opportunity to build on the connections you’ve already made. It’s one place where you can almost guarantee you’ll be able to meet PRs and brands instead of spending days hosting meetings in their offices. And wear comfortable shoes!

Don’t forget to have fun! WTM is a traveling show. As much as it is about business, it is also about travel and entertainment. Keep in mind that more than 180 countries are in one place, next to each other and have no borders, you can travel from country to country or even continent to continent without flying in 3 days. All these countries try to present their culture. Lots of fun activities, new technology and great food and drink await you. So this is a great opportunity to learn about different countries and have fun.
Follow the event hashtag on twitter to find out about special events. At the end of the last day there are festivals where some countries present their culture, food and drink. It’s a fun way to end the episode.
If this is your first WTM and you don’t have much experience with the brand, don’t feel the need to jump right in. Talk to them, be yourself, be a good person, be patient, share what you love and also learn, listen to your plans or the sign of the next year – it should be a two-way conversation and not about you. WTM is a great place to get an idea of where tourism is going – so you can develop products or story ideas that could become future campaigns. Build these relationships and sooner or later your efforts will pay off! Plus, like everyone else here has said – have fun!
Always be strategic about the evening events you attend. They are usually spread all over London so if you are not careful you can spend most of the night traveling around the city to get through them. Choosing one or maximum two will allow you to spend quality time with each.

WTM can take you out of service after one day or all three days. Draft follow-up emails using media tools ready to send to contacts. Remember that many exhibitors may be in London for several days after WTM for meetings with partners and clients, so don’t rush to email on Thursday or Friday. Keep your email short and send it early next week (Tuesday). We find that contacts respond better when we do this.
Do your research and know your audience. Before organizing a meeting or even attending, make sure you know the destination, NTO or goals and plans for the future.
Press conferences are a great place to network with both PR and local companies. They also give you great insight into what your destination’s priorities are for the next year(s), making it easier to plan your pitch.
If you’re only there for a few days, treat WTM as a whole travel experience. Be more open and independent. If you can’t make multiple appointments, walk around the shops and start a conversation like you would when traveling. Mix up your journey by cable car, ferry, tube and DLR to get to Excel. Take the initiative to throw parties and get-togethers that you wouldn’t normally attend. WTM is as much about chance encounters as it is about adapting to relationships. My first WTM I had a chance conversation with the travel editor sitting next to me and ended up working with him for six years.

First, check the website and see where the tourist signs/boards you like to work on are. It’s a great place to make sure you see them first!
Find out what you want and what your values are. Arrange meetings with high-level warm contacts and then contact your offer. Quality over quantity, don’t waste time in many meetings to enjoy soaking in the action.

Don’t get discouraged when it seems like every blogger you know is jumping from pre-scheduled meeting to pre-scheduled meeting! Opportunities can easily come from reaching out to random agents as well.
