Fun Date Restaurants Near Me – Want to know where to plan your next date in Austin? Good news, today I’m sharing my favorite date night restaurants with you! I’ve lived in Austin for a long time, and Nate and I have gone on dates through every stage of our relationship: dating, engagement, marriage, and now our (rare) housewarming parties with the kids and the babysitter. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite date night spots in Austin for all of these stages!
My husband and I love trying new restaurants for date nights when the special occasion warrants it! We love going on dates to celebrate birthdays, promotions, anniversaries (it used to be our “date” anniversary, now we’re celebrating our wedding anniversary), visiting guests in town…or just for no reason at all. Austin has tons of great date night restaurants!

A boring but necessary update: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our daily lives, stay tuned for updates and changes in restaurants. I recommend visiting the restaurant’s Instagram page and website before making a reservation. Sometimes they have to make last-minute changes due to illness, lack of food, or other reasons. I’ve been amazed at how most independent restaurants in Austin have adapted to this new season of life.

Do you have a favorite date night restaurant in Austin that I didn’t include? Let me know in the comments section! Austin has so many restaurants worth checking out, so be sure to check out this list of the 20 best restaurants in Austin. However, if you’re looking for special date night spots in Austin, read on.
Lenoir is a small, beautiful restaurant in South Austin that only seats about 30 people. The term “hot weather food” means that food grows and tastes best in a hot weather region like Austin, Texas. Choose 3 dishes from the menu (Field, Sea, Earth, Dream) and order additional dishes for $12.
Visit one of Austin’s oldest fine dining establishments for a date night at this beautifully decorated Mexican restaurant. Food and drinks are available here
Grains are the star of the show at Emmer & Rye’s Rainey Street restaurant. I decided to share a photo of my favorite dish (the cache e pepe…be still my soul, it is

Chef Kevin Fink has developed a program that actually grinds traditional grains; While many restaurants may pride themselves on making their bread and pasta from scratch, Emmer & Rye goes one step further by grinding their own grain. That’s why bread and the past are so good here.
The menu is seasonal, using whatever is local and available. Be sure to order the Cacio e Pepe, it’s one of the few items on the menu that doesn’t rotate…it’s that good!
The laundry room is just as cute and unusual! It’s a renovated East Austin laundromat that’s casual enough for a lazy happy hour and hip enough for a date night! Bonus: This place was a finalist for the 2016 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.
I’m not kidding when I say this is the BEST patio I’ve seen in Austin! Aba did everything possible: pantsuits, white and beige mixed textiles and hundreds of twinkling lights swaying under the century-old live oak around which the patio is built. Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant based in Chicago. Austin freaked out when they announced they were opening on South Congress in 2020 and it’s been hard to get reservations ever since!
Romantic Restaurants In Melbourne For The Perfect Date Night
I will say that while the atmosphere and cocktail program are absolutely stellar, the food is just “good.” (However, I need to go back and try more dishes.) Definitely worth a visit and a very memorable experience, I just think the food doesn’t quite live up to the hype of the atmosphere. But I still consider it one of my favorite date night spots in Austin because it’s just awesome!
I have yet to find another place quite like Dai Due Butcher and Supper Club. The concept here is really fun: it’s very local Texas food, so you’ll see game on the menu that you wouldn’t normally find at your average farm-to-table restaurant. Expect things like wild boar, rabbit and quail.
The bakery in front of the restaurant is bustling with work, and the air smells of smoke from the open-fire grill used to heat cookies.
This popular Austin restaurant started as a food truck and grew into a successful casual restaurant on South Lamar. Chef Bryce Gilmore has been at the forefront of the farm-to-table movement, and Odd Duck is still one of the best places to sample beautifully prepared seasonal food. This is a great place for guests from out of town!
The Best Date Night Restaurants In Philly And Beyond
“Elevated Southern Cuisine” means you’ll be able to try creative variations on dishes like boiled peanuts, cornbread, and chicken. But the real star of the show here? cookies! Be sure to order this item off the menu. Another reason to visit: Chef Michael Fojtasek received a James Beard Award nomination for Best Chef of the Southwest. Greetings, chef!
Justines Brasserie is definitely one of the sexiest date night restaurants in Austin. This is now my favorite French restaurant! It’s a gloomy, sultry place where you can order steak frites, mussels in butter sauce and a bottle of champagne.
Place in Austin to go on a date with someone you want to impress! I always think Justin’s is the best place for a third date because you’ve already had the first date, the second date to confirm that you like each other, and now the third date and you’re ready to pull it all stops with a great restaurant, great food and a great bottle of champagne
One of Bon Appetit’s “50 Best New Restaurants in America” in 2018, Suerte is owned by Odd Duck partner Sam Hellman-Mas and focuses on corn. The masa is ground in-house to make the cakes from scratch, and most of the decor is imported from Mexico. The plates are small and designed for sharing.
Find A Restaurant For A Great Date Night
This is definitely my favorite seafood restaurant in Austin for a special occasion. The huge patio overlooking SoCo is shaded by massive live oak trees, so I love to enjoy raw oysters there when the weather is nice.
June is cute, friendly, lively and pink all day long! It is named after June Rodil, head of the wine program for MMH restaurants (Elizabeth Street, Clark’s, June’s, Perla’s, etc.) and one of the few female master sommeliers in the country. This is a great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a small place, so reserve a table or plan to sit at the bar if you don’t want to wait. PS: happy hour here is one of the best in town with 1/2 off all items!
Fixe is a fine Southern restaurant with a modern take on an old Southern classic. Just like Olamaie, this is another place where you have to order a cookie, no matter what time of day you visit.
This restaurant holds a special place in my heart because it was where we ate when Nate and I found out the offer on our house was accepted! Since the restaurant is half underground, we didn’t get good cell phone service, so we had to leave our table to go outside and sign forms on our phones. 😉
Most Romantic Restaurants In Miami To Make Them Swoon
Dim Sum is such a fun date night idea because you can order lots of small plates and share everything! Lin Dim Sum is a lovely, extremely busy restaurant. While I was dining there, Mayor Adler stopped by for dinner. I mean…if the mayor eats there, it must be good, right?!
They specialize in Asian home cooking and strive to offer traditional Asian dishes made with the finest ingredients. They use local ingredients and the skilled chefs prepare a lot of food (like dumplings!) in the open kitchen. It’s a fun place to sit at the counter, and be sure to order the Shanghai Dumplings.
Hestia is a live fire restaurant from the Emmer and Rye team. Everything here is cooked over an open fire (no gas or electric grills), which just amazes me. The entrance to the restaurant is a Basque-style Calimocho wine bar, which is fun to add to the start of a date night.
Texas Monthly named this contemporary Mexican restaurant one of the best new restaurants in the country. The architecture of the downtown building is enough to impress you (it’s dark on the outside, but the inside is flooded with light… it looks like a speakeasy!), but the bone marrow tacos, delicious cocktails, and impeccable service will make this one of your favorite Austin restaurants.

Cheaper This is an iconic Austin restaurant that you must visit sometime, and it is without a doubt one of the best date night restaurants in Austin.
This new downtown rooftop restaurant is SO much fun! Chef Nick Even (Aba, Perla’s) has created the most delicious menu
