I’m not kidding when I say this is the BEST patio I’ve seen in Austin! Aba did everything possible: pantsuits, white and beige mixed textiles and hundreds of twinkling lights swaying under the century-old live oak around which the patio is built. Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant based in Chicago. Austin freaked out when they announced they were opening on South Congress in 2020 and it’s been hard to get reservations ever since!

I will say that while the atmosphere and cocktail program are absolutely stellar, the food is just “good.” (However, I need to go back and try more dishes.) Definitely worth a visit and a very memorable experience, I just think the food doesn’t quite live up to the hype of the atmosphere. But I still consider it one of my favorite date night spots in Austin because it’s just awesome!
I have yet to find another place quite like Dai Due Butcher and Supper Club. The concept here is really fun: it’s very local Texas food, so you’ll see game on the menu that you wouldn’t normally find at your average farm-to-table restaurant. Expect things like wild boar, rabbit and quail.

One of Bon Appetit’s “50 Best New Restaurants in America” in 2018, Suerte is owned by Odd Duck partner Sam Hellman-Mas and focuses on corn. The masa is ground in-house to make the cakes from scratch, and most of the decor is imported from Mexico. The plates are small and designed for sharing.

This is definitely my favorite seafood restaurant in Austin for a special occasion. The huge patio overlooking SoCo is shaded by massive live oak trees, so I love to enjoy raw oysters there when the weather is nice.
June is cute, friendly, lively and pink all day long! It is named after June Rodil, head of the wine program for MMH restaurants (Elizabeth Street, Clark’s, June’s, Perla’s, etc.) and one of the few female master sommeliers in the country. This is a great place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s a small place, so reserve a table or plan to sit at the bar if you don’t want to wait. PS: happy hour here is one of the best in town with 1/2 off all items!
Fixe is a fine Southern restaurant with a modern take on an old Southern classic. Just like Olamaie, this is another place where you have to order a cookie, no matter what time of day you visit.
This restaurant holds a special place in my heart because it was where we ate when Nate and I found out the offer on our house was accepted! Since the restaurant is half underground, we didn’t get good cell phone service, so we had to leave our table to go outside and sign forms on our phones. 😉
