We love the gem display at this Denver museum. Don’t miss the space museum area and the Prehistoric Trail, and the special exhibit on Egyptian mummies is another favorite. Young children will enjoy the Denver Museum of Nature and Science’s Discovery Zone.

When it’s warm at the Denver Zoo, many of the animals are outdoors, while in the colder months you can visit them in their indoor enclosures.
There are plenty of picnic spots at the nearby zoo or city park. The zoo also has educational programs and classes you can try, and be sure to ride the Endangered Species Carousel!

The Denver Botanic Gardens is one of the best family things to do in Denver, CO. In the Mordecai Children’s Garden, children will find hands-on areas where they can build, run and play. Don’t miss the tropical conservatory with a tree house, fish and frogs.

Best Kid Friendly Stem Things To Do In Denver, Colorado For Toddlers
A small stream flows through the park, where children like to splash and cool off. For $2.50 per person, they (and you!) can ride the little pioneer train around the park, or visit the petting zoo for the same price. Right next door is Pirate’s Cove, a small local water park with slides and water features.
It’s not a day trip destination, but it’s a lifesaver if you’re in downtown Denver and need a place for the kids to vent! Tucked right by LoDo, this little playground has a climbing net and other fun features.

The bike paths are level so smaller children can ride their bikes in the city park, there are rocks to climb and fountains to splash near the museum. You can also rent paddle boats to cruise the lake.

Confluence Park is where Cherry Creek and the South Platte River meet. It’s close to Elitch Gardens, one of Denver’s best theme parks, and next to the Denver Trolley. Take a ride on the Denver Trolley or let the kids cool off in the water.
