Whether you’re looking to jet abroad or thinking of taking a trip before summer ends, Gifford has picked the best spots for every type of returning traveler, so all you have to do is throw the essentials in your bag .

The Goodtime Hotel, a new hotel from Grammy Award-winning singer-producer Pharrell Williams and nightlife industry veteran David Grutman, promises to live up to its name. It has 266 rooms starting at just $139 per night, and offers waterfront views and even beach access. The Strawberry Moon Hotel and Pool Club, along with two outdoor bars, a DJ booth and private cabanas span an entire city block, but the amenities can make you forget you’re in the hustle and bustle of Miami. The hotel offers opportunities for guests to keep up with wellness goals while on vacation, thanks to yoga classes offered on the third floor and outdoor exercise space.
Just outside of Austin, Texas, you’ll find Lakeway Resort along Lake Travis, where you can paddleboard, kayak, fish, and more. Along Interstate 80, about 90 minutes from Tucson, Shady Dell awaits travelers getting back on the road. It has been hosting guests since 1927, but it just got a fresh update thanks to new ownership, Gifford says. You’ll find 13 permanent vintage trailers starting at $85 a night, plus a tiki-themed bus and a converted yacht to spend the night on, all with decor to match the vibe. Inside, guests can find black and white TVs and copies of Life magazine; outside, there are grills and fire pits that lend themselves to outdoor gatherings. Gifford notes that there are also plenty of off-site attractions, including a “ghost tour” in the nearby old mining town of Bisbee and the Coronado National Forest, perfect for those looking to spend some time outdoors.
If you’re planning to travel outside the US this summer, in addition to following the proper rules and regulations, you’ll need to make sure one more item is up to date: your passport. According to the State Department, nearly two million passport applications are backlogged, and the current wait time for a passport is between 12 and 18 weeks, so if you apply for a passport now, you may not receive it until “the fall.” Below, you’ll find Gifford’s tips for ensuring a smooth trip out of the country.

The rooms are available in three different sizes, and all are themed with colors that nod to the history of the area. The hotel’s central location also makes it a great place to explore the city. On the property you will find a lobby bar decorated with mahogany floors and plush cocktail chairs, and two outdoor viewing areas: a rooftop bar overlooking the Castelo de São Jorge and, below, the Blue Restaurant with an outdoor patio, near the spa. , swimming pool, steam bath and sauna.

What to do: Jackson Hole has more outdoor activities than there are hours in the day. You can raft the scenic Snake River, slide down the slopes at Snow King Resort in Jackson, or explore the magical ice castle and slide at Teton Village.
