Depending on the medication you take, you may need to start taking this medication a few days before your trip, as well as during and after your trip. Talk to your doctor about which anti-malaria medicine you should take.

Most animals avoid humans, but may attack if they feel threatened, are defending their young or territory, or are injured or sick. Animal bites and scratches can lead to serious diseases such as rabies.

All animals can be a threat, but be extra careful with dogs, bats, monkeys, sea animals like jellyfish and snakes. If an animal bites or scratches you, immediately:
